D.O. FAGUNWA RESURRECTS AT 2015 QUINTESSENCE FESTIVAL

Popular Nigerian filmmaker, Femi Odugbemi’s documentary, D.O. Fagunwa is set to screen at The Quintessence Festival, 2015 on Sunday 22nd November from 3-9pm. The Quintessence Festival is a three-day festival which holds in Lagos from 20th to 22nd November, 2015.

D.O. Fagunwa explores the life and works of Daniel Olorunfemi Fagunwa MBE (1903-9 December, 1963), popularly known as D.O. Fagunwa who was a Nigerian author and a pioneer of the Yoruba-Language Novel. The festival organizers described the 2013 documentary as “a brilliant documentation of the life of one of Nigeria’s greatest story-tellers…”.

Fagunwa, was one of the early writers to write in Yoruba language. His works: Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmole, Igbo Olodumare, Ireke Onibudo, Irinkerindo Ninu Igbo Elegbeje and Adiitu Olodumare are examples of an enduring legacy.

The Quintessence Festival celebrates Nigerian Arts and Culture, and also commemorates the 40th anniversary of Quintessence, Lagos. Activities lined up for the festival are: Symposium, Fine Art Exhibitions, History Photography Competition, Film Screenings, Book Discussion, Fashion Design, Live Music, Poetry Evening and Photography Exhibitions.
