Ace filmmaker, Tunde Kelani has been invited to be a keynote speaker at the forthcoming 7th African Film Conference. This year’s event, which is billed to take place in London, United Kingdom from 7th to 8th November has the theme ‘African Film and Social Change’.
The 2015 African Film Conference, organised by the Africa Media Centre, University of Westminster, will bring together academic scholars and practitioners to discuss how policymakers, filmmakers, and audiences are involved in changing social relations, and how this affects the kinds of moving images they make. Organisers are concerned to bring to the fore sub-themes of: changing film production environments; shifts in funding mechanisms for African film; the role of audiences/users; regulation debates; and African film’s potential for human development.
The conference will focus on various topics revolving around film and social change, and TK will speak on the effectiveness of Comedy and Satire in promoting change
In the same vein, Tunde Kelani’s feature, Dazzling Mirage is expected to screen at 2015 Film Africa on Saturday, 7th November, 2015. Film Africa is the Royal African Society’s annual festival celebrating the best African cinema from across the continent. Launched in 2011, it is UK’s largest festival of African film and culture.
